Kids

Not much going on in our home.  Joseph had his birthday and we went to Chuck A Rama for dinner.  Last night we had a neighborhood boy come over and he spent the night at our house, which for us is unheard of, we are anti-sleepover.  His friend's name is Jason Sullivan and our families are very close.

Football has kicked in full swing and Joseph and Rex are both on teams.  Practices are every night for 90 minutes.  Rex came home tonight with sore legs.  He is 7 years old and this is his first time being on an athletic team.  He is quite the athlete.  Joseph, however, is 11 years old and this will be his 4th year playing football, but his 3rd year playing for the Tremonton Bear River Bears.  His coaches love him and they put him in key positions.  He also has a really good friend on his team who is the quarterback named Ashton Rhoades.  As a family, we love watching the kids play.

Totally unrelated but my thought for the day:

'Individuals, to the extent possible, should provide for their own needs. Where the individual is unable to care for himself, his family should assist. Where the family is not able to provide, the Church should render assistance, not the government. We accept the basic principle that "though the people support the government, the government should not support the people." Latter-day Saints should not receive unearned welfare assistance from local or national agencies. This includes food stamps.' - Ezra Taft Benson

Interesting Sarah. We were on food stamps and medicaid during our years in Nebraska with Russ in law school. Russ's sister in law would not go on goverment help because she didn't feel it was right. This struck me because that is just what students do. I was concerned we weren't doing the right thing and talked to Victoria about it, who at the time worked for DWS. She said that the system is designed for people like students that are furthering their education. We would have ad so much more debt had we not had that help.
